STEALTH ELECTRONICS LIMITED
1.0 STATEMENT ON WEEE Directive (2002/95EC)
EU Directives on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and the Restriction of the Use of certain Hazardous Substances in electronic and electrical equipment (RoHS) came into force on 13 February 2003. Arrangements for the actual operation of the Directives must be put in place in stages from 13 August 2005. For example, the requirement for producers to provide free take-back facilities for waste electrical equipment will come into operation from that date.
As defined by the Directives, to minimise the environmental impact of electronic waste, Stealth Electronics Ltd the manufacturer of electronic/electrical products will take responsibility for those products at the end of their life.
2.0 DISPOSAL OF STEALTH'S PRODUCTS AT END OF LIFE
In particular, the taskforce is being asked to develop proposals for a Producer Responsibility Initiative for e-waste, whereby the producers of electrical and electronic goods will be obliged to put in place systems to ensure that such waste is collected and recycled to the greatest extent possible. In accordance with the WEEE Directive, by August 2005 owners of e-waste will be entitled to return the waste, back free of charge at, either to the place of purchase or to other authorised collection points. We request that the items manufactured by Stealth Electronics are returned to the factory at Akenham, Ipswich for re cycling. This applies to goods manufactured after June 2005. Items applicable will be labelled with the WEEE Annex IV symbol.
